They are surely the jewels of the birds in the bush. I hope you enjoy the photo images and discover the eBook writing by Gray Nomad about where to see these magnificent creatures.
I have had fun hunting up the photographs and completing the book. There are some beautiful full images of these birds in the eBook. Here are some spares that I did not use in the book.
The Dandenong Ranges are only thirty-five kilometers outside of Melbourne the capital city of Victoria. I show many places both in the Dandenongs and beyond where lyrebirds may be seen in the "Where to See Lyrebirds" book
The lyrebird’s syrinx produces an extraordinary vocal repertoire and mimicry. Lyrebirds can produce with great fidelity all the songs of other birds including the chatter of flocks of birds, and mimic animals such as the noisy nighttime mating grunts and roar of koalas and and the howl of dingos.
Much of my childhood was spent in and around the Dandenong and Warburton Ranges and I’ll never forget the experience of being close to nature every opportunity I got as a child. I am not an expert on lyrebirds, I'm a nature lover sharing the success I have had in viewing this superb bird in nature.
