A tour of the King River Valley in North Eastern Victoria is a delight. This is one of my favorite areas.I first visited this area as a child. I loved Powers lookout and took a great interest in the stories of Harry Powers the bush ranger from the 1870's who used this site to watch for the stage coaches below in the King Valley so he could ride down to rob them. This part of the country is filled with stories of courageous and daring men and women.
There is fishing in Lake William Hovell.
Powers apparently mentored a young Ned Kelly into the art of being a bush ranger.
Was it Ned's grandparents who dobbed Powers into the police?
The site of Kelly's grandparent's home is near Cheshunt South just below Power's Lookout.
The outlaw stories from this region, make fascinating reading. Click link below to read more.
